NSSDCA ID: 1978-084D-05
Mission Name: Venera 11 Descent CraftThe experiment was designed to determine the structure and optical characteristics of the aerosol component of the atmosphere of Venus by means of a backscattering nephelometer. The instrument was designed for particle sizes in the 0.8 to 1.0 micrometer range and for aerosol concentrations of 1.E-1 to 1.E4 per cubic meter. The experiment functioned from an altitude of 51 km to the surface. The experiment was described in Marov, M. Ya., et al., 1979, Cosmic Research, Consultants Bureau, New York, v.17, n. 5, pp. 614-617 (Kosmicheskie Issledovanija, 1979, v. 17, n. 5, pp. 743-746).
