Submillimeter Radiometer (SMR)

NSSDCA ID: 2001-007A-01

Mission Name: Odin

Description

The Submillimetre Radiometer (SMR) is a 1.1 m diameter radio telescope with heterodyne receivers in five bands, four around 500 GHz frequency and one at 119 GHz. It is designed to detect spectral line emissions from interstellar molecular clouds, specifically atomic and molecular transitions of CI, CIO, 12CO, 13CO, NO2, N2O, H2O2, HO2, H216O, H218O, H2S, CS, NO, N2O, HNO3, NH3, H2CO, O3 AND O2, in order to probe the physical conditions in these star-forming clouds. Further details are available at http://www.ssc.se/ssd/papers/odeye/html
