Mission Name: Chandrayaan 1 Lunar OrbiterThe Lunar Laser Ranging Instrument (LLRI) is designed ot measure the Moon's topography from polar orbit. The LLRI consists of a diode-pumped Nd:YAG pulsed laser transmitter and a receiver system. the laser will have a 10 nsec pulse width and a wavelength of 1064 nm. The receiver system comprises a 17 cm diameter Ritchey-Chretien telescope, Si avalanche photon detector, preamplifiers, constant fraction discriminators, and a time-of-flight measurement unit. The instrument objective is to give global topographic maps with a resolution of 10 m.
