Description

The Radio and Plasma Wave Instrument (Waves) was designed to characterize the polar magnetosphere of Jupiter by measuring radio and plasma wave emissions associated with auroral phenomena. Waves was designed to detect radio frequencies from 50 hertz (near the bottom of the audio range) up to 40 megahertz (the limit of Jupiter’s radiation emissions range) and magnetic fields from 50 hertz to 20 kilohertz.
