KPLO Gamma Ray Spectrometer (KGRS)

NSSDCA ID: 2022-094A-03

Mission Name: Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter (KPLO)

Description

The KPLO Gamma Ray Spectrometer (KGRS) will measure gamma-rays emanating from the lunar surface. The scientific objective is to determine the elemental composition of the surface materials, using measurements of the spectrum of gamma-rays emitted from the material. KGRS will concentrate on lunar resources such as rare elements and minerals, and map the spatial distribution. This instrument is developed by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI).
