Mission Name: Mars Science Laboratory (MSL)The Mast Camera (MastCam) is mounted on the central mast of the rover and is designed to take images of the martian terrain and atmospheric phenomena, and to support driving and science functions of the rover. MastCam comprises two cameras. One, M-34, has a 34 mm focal length and f/8 lens with a 15 x 20 degree field of view and a 1200 x 1600 pixel image size. The other camera, M-100, has a 100 mm focal length and f/10 lens with a 5.1 x 6.8 degree field of view and a 1200 x 1600 pixel image size. Both camerascan focus from about 2.1 m to infinity. The pixel scale at 1 km for M-34 is 22 cm and for M-100 is 7.4 cm.
