Rohini 1



Rohini-1B was the first Indian national satellite launched on 18 July 1980. It was launched on an SLV-3 rocket from the Sriharikota Space Center in Bengal Bay into a 302 x 919 km orbit. The satellite was spherical with a 0.6 m diameter, and weighed 35 kg. It reentered the atmosphere on 20 May 1981. This launch made India the seventh nation to launch a satellite into orbit on its own rocket.
