Description

Meteor 2-17 carried scientific instruments for continuing space research, radio systems for precise orbital measurements, and a radio telemetry system. It also carried equipment for obtaining global images of cloud cover and the underlying surface in the visible and infrared bands of the spectrum using either the tape recording mode or direct transmission, and radiometric equipment for continuous observations of fluxes of penetrating radiation in the near-earth space.
