Cosmos 1990 was a Soviet remote sensing satellite launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome aboard a Soyuz rocket. Its purpose was to investigate the natural resources of the earth in the interests of various branches of the national economy of the USSR and international cooperation. It also photographed seismically active regions of the country, including the territory of Armenia, with the aim of studying seismotectonic conditions of interest to construction.
