REX was a US Air Force radiation experiment satellite launched using a Scout booster rocket. It performed experiments to study scintillation effects of the Earth's atmosphere on RF transmissions. Built by Defense Systems Inc (DSI), the spacecraft was gravity gradient stabilized (approx. 5 degrees control) using a 6 m boom and 2.5 kg tip mass. Minor control was provided by three axis torque coils.
