Description

TELECOM-2A was a family of three communications satellites: A, B, and C. The objectives of TELECOM-2A were (1) to succeed the TELECOM-1 family (which reached the end of its life) which provided for telephone, FAX, TV and data transfer services between mainland and French overseas departments; (2) to provide government communications; (3) to transfer high rate data for professional apoplications of French industrial firms; and (4) to transmit commercial TV channels.
