Cosmos 2281, a Russian natural resources satellite, was launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome aboard a Soyuz rocket. It provided photography of the Earth's surface for the purpose of the natural resource mapping and area monitoring on behalf of various branches of the Russian economy and in the interests of international cooperation.
