FAISAT, a 115kg minisatellite made by Final Analysis Inc, was launched by a Cosmos-3M rocket alongside Tsikada, a Russian maritime navigational satellite, from the Plesetsk cosmodrome. Its primary mission was digital store and forward communications, targeting remote terminals in the US. FAISAT also included a secondary USAF payload, which was reported to have not been switched on due to lack of funding.
