Description

Nahuel 1A was an Argentinian communications satellite launched from the Kourou Space Center in French Guiana aboard an Ariane rocket. It was placed in a geosynchronous orbit at 71.8 deg W. It was designed to improve the telephone, data transmission, and television broadcasting services in three coverage zones in Argentina and its neighboring countries. It was manufactured at Aerospatiale's Satellite facilities in Cannes and was based on a Spacebus 2000, three-axis stabilized platform. The payload had 19 Ku-band transponders (12-14 GHz).
