Launched with MAQSAT-H from the Kourou Space Center in French Guiana, YES (Young Engineers Satellite) was a tethered subsatellite designed to be deployed on a 35 km tether. It contained experiments to measure radiation, the solar angle and acceleration in autonomous mode after separation from MAQSAT-H. A GPS receiver was also installed to evaluate the use of GPS for navigation, especially above the GPS satellite constellation.
