GFO (Geosat Follow On) was an American military spacecraft launched by a Taurus rocket from Vandenberg AFB. The 410 kg satellite carried a radio altimeter and a water vapor radiometer to measure sea levels and glacial heights. The mission followed the 1985 Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab built Geosat mission. The spacecraft had 96 Mbytes of on-board storage, and generated up to 126 W orbit average power. Early on in the mission, momentum wheel directions were found to be reversed, although that was rectified in software.
