Intelsat 806 was a geosynchronous communications spacecraft of the 142-nation consortium launched by an Atlas 2AS rocket from Cape Canaveral. It was the latest member of the current Intelsat fleet, now totalling 26 spacecraft. It was parked over the Atlantic ocean enabling voice and video communications to Europe and the Americas by means of its 28 C-band and 6 Ku-band transponders after parking at 40 degrees W.
