BIRD 2 (Bispectral InfraRed Detector 2) is a German, 94 kg minisatellite that was launched by a PSLV-C3 rocket from Sriharikota in south-east Indian coast at 04:53 UT on 22 October 2001. It is a technology demonstrator to help design a major remote sensing array of infrared detectors.
