Sich 2



SICH 2, a Ukrainian remote sensing satellite, was launched from Yasny on 17 August 2011 at 07:12 UT by a Dnepr rocket. The satellite weighed 169 kg and is the third spacecraft to be launched in a series of Ukrainian satellites named Sich (meaning Owl). The satellite carries optical and infrared imagers, which will be used to produce images for agricultural and development planning, mapping, and monitoring natural disasters. Sich 2 is expected to operate for five years.
