Tacsat 4



Tacsat 4, a U.S. Navy communications satellite, was launched from Kodiak on 27 September 2011 at 15:49 UT by a Minotaur rocket. Tacsat 4, also known as the Tactical Microsatellite Innovative Naval Prototype, or INP, weighed 450 kg and is powered by twin solar arrays generating 1 kW of power. The satellite is the third in a series of experimental tactical satellites developed under the military's Operationally Responsive Space initiative. The craft features an antenna spanning 3.6 m and 10 UHF communications channels to aid troops deployed in battle zones.
