Description

ELISA E12 (Electronic Intelligence Satellite), a French military satellite, was launched from Kourou on 17 December 2011 at 02:03 UT. The craft weighed 125 kg and was launched by a Soyuz rocket. ELISA is a demonstration project sponsored by the French defense procurements agency (DGA). ELISA E12 was one of four ELISA satellites launched together to map radar emissions worldwide, characterizing and cataloging their sources for use in electronic warfare. The satellites will drift to their correct position in orbit over the next three months before testing begins.
