SSOT (Sistema Satelital de Observacion de la Tierra), a Chilean Earth observation satellite, was launched from Kourou on 17 December 2011 at 02:03 UT. The craft weighed 117 kg and was launched by a Soyuz rocket. SSOT, also known as FASat-Charlie, is a multi-role observation craft. It will gather civilian and defense images. The satellite will collect 23 m resolution imagery for security, mapping, urban planning, and agriculture applications.
