Description

Ziyuan 1, a Chinese Earth observation satellite, was launched from Taiyuan on 26 December 2011 at 03:26 UT by a Long March 4B rocket. Ziyuan 1, also called ZY 1, weighed 2100 kg. It carries two high-resolution HR cameras, capable of a spatial resolution of 2.36 m, with a joint swath of 54 km. The satellite will be mainly used by the Ministry of Land and Resources. It is designed to have a service life of three years.
