Description

High-power telecom satellite created through a public–private partnership between ESA and UK operator Inmarsat, carrying a mobile communications payload in L-band that will augment Inmarsat’s Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) service for communications across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. The satellite has a 12-metre aperture aerial reflector. Alphasat I-XL also carries technology demonstration payloads for the European Space Agency. Expected location - 25° east.
