Fajr has a mass of around 50 Kilograms and is equipped with an optical imaging payload that reportedly achieves a ground resolution of about 500 meters. The satellite uses a cold-gas thruster system to conduct orbital maneuvers and increase its service life by raising its orbit to prevent a fast decay. Orbital data gathered over the coming months will confirm whether the satellite is actively controlling its orbit. A GPS system developed by Iran is also part of the spacecraft. The Fajr satellite is expected to operate for one and a half years.
