OSE HS-02

Description

OSE HS-02 the second of a pair of hyperspectral Earth observation satellites built by the Chinese company Star.Vision. The other satellite is OSE HS-01.

Both of these satellites were built in corporation with foreign customers. OSE HS-01 (also called Lampung-1) was built in close partnership with Lampung Province, Indonesia, to accelerate marine economy growth, environmental governance, and regional industry collaboration. OSE HS-02 (also called Samarkand 2028) was jointly created with Uzcosmos, Uzbekistan, to support regional ecological monitoring and technological innovation.

These satellites feature advanced hyperspectral tech and on-orbit artificial intelligence. They utilize an advanced hyperspectral imager covering 22 calibrated spectral bands which enables a spatial resolution of 5-meters. The pair of satellites work together to cover the same global spot every 5 days.

The onboard artificial intelligence processing computer processes up to 400 trillion operations per second (TOPS). It also performs anomaly detection, feature extraction, and image compression directly in space. This cuts downstream delivery times from days to minutes by filtering raw imagery in orbit.

Jielong 3 is a sea-launched, four-stage, solid-fueled rocket designed to launch payloads of up to 1,500 kg to LEO. The first stage generates 200 tons of thrust at liftoff.

This was Jielong 3’s 12th mission and the 184th orbital launch attempt of 2026.
