Lunar Pathfinder

The Lunar Pathfinder is a European Space Agency (ESA) satellite planned to orbit the Moon circa 2025-2026. It will be a communications relay satellite as part of the ESA Moonlight effort to create a European lunar telecommunications and navigation infrastructure consisting of a network of communications, navigation, and data relay satellites. Lunar Pathfinder will help allow continuous communication with robotic spacecraft and humans on the far side of the Moon. In addition to its communication capabilities, the spacecraft will also carry two separate ESA experiments, one testing the possibility of using existing navigation satellites for positioning on the Moon and one to monitor space weather to study radiation levels around the Moon. It will be launching as a ride share with Blue Ghost 2, a NASA CLPS mission.
