Description

The WESTAR spacecraft was part of the first domestic communications satellite system. The prime mission objective was to place a communications spacecraft is geostationary orbit. WESTAR-C weighed 287.8 kg and had the capability for relaying 12 color TV channels or up to 14,400 voice channels throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
