Microsat 2 was launched using a Pegasus booster rocket. The payload was delivered into orbit by a vehicle released from a B-52 along with Microsats 1, and 3 through 7. They were designed to assess the use of low-earh orbit for global communications. Each satellite operated in UHF, using an analog transponder for FM radio, relay of voice communications and a digital transponder to relay data, message, facsimile and modest video traffic. For a full description of the mission see Microsat 1 (1991-051A).
