APSTAR 2R was a Hong Kong geostationary communications satellite launched by a Long March 3B rocket from the Xichang launch center in the PRC. It carried 28 C-band and 15 Ku-band transponders to provide voice and video communications to China after parking at 76.5 deg E. It had an expected life span of 15 years.
