NSSDC Annual Report for 1994 Available

Volume 11, Number 2, June 1995
By Joseph King
NSSDC recently issued the NSSDC 1994 Annual Report. This report describes many of the qualitative highlights of the year. In addition, it reports many metrics relative to the growth of the archive, to the nature of the archive (media mix, on-line vs. off-line, etc.), and to the access to and dissemination of data from the archive. Many metrics are reported by discipline (astrophysics, etc.). Similar statistics are offered for the contents of NSSDC's various informational data bases. World Wide Web access statistics are reported for the first time. For many parameters cumulative numbers over NSSDC's life to the end of 1994 as well as 1994 activity levels are reported. For instance, the number of data tapes received at NSSDC during 1994 as well as the total number of tapes at NSSDC on December 31, 1994, is given. Copies of this report (NSSDC/WDC-A-R&S 95-02) are available by request to NSSDC/CRUSO. (Postal and E-mail addresses and telephone/FAX numbers are available at the Help Desk ( http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/about/about_cruso.html ).)
