Strybing Arboretum Moon Tree
San Francisco, California
A coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) was reportedly planted on July 22, 1976 in the Redwood Grove
at the Strybing Arboretum in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, California.
The arboretum has no record of the tree, the only evidence we have at present are the two clippings above from
the San Francisco Chronicle. The first clipping is from the Sunday, July 18 issue,
the clipping is from a calendar of events,
reporting on a Moon Tree dedication in the Redwood Grove at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.
The next Thursday from this issue was July 22.
The other article, on the Tilden Park tree, was from Tuesday, July 27. In the
second paragraph it refers to a tree being planted in Strybing Arboretum "last week".
